Meredith is thankful to God for her supportive family and solid Christian upbringing. Since childhood, she has believed in a loving God, but at the age of 14, while on a missions trip to Tijuana, Mexico, she had a face to face encounter with the living Christ and received Him as her personal Lord and Savior. Humbled by the dessert’s harsh living conditions and deeply moved by the Tijuana Christians’ great faith in God and contentment despite poverty, she made a decision to live a life “sold out” to Jesus.
Grateful for her God-given musical gifts, Meredith has had the privilege to play or sing with numerous musical orchestras and ensembles, including: Eastern Wind Symphony, The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) Orchestra, TCNJ Wind Ensemble, various jazz bands, concert choirs, pit orchestras for musicals, flute ensembles, woodwind quintets and solo flute recitals. From 1999-2001 Meredith sang with “Voice of Hope,” a Christian ‘a cappella’ singing group devoted to sharing the Gospel on college campuses around the country. While ministering with Voice of Hope, she had the opportunity to participate in several outreach events including a short-term mission trip to Mississippi. In 2000, Meredith was an active participant at the Urbana Missions Conference in Illinois. A year later, she toured through Western Europe (including Austria and Germany) with the TCNJ Wind Ensemble as principal flautist. In 2002 Meredith coached and conducted the TCNJ Concert Band. From 2003 to 2009, Meredith performed in numerous Eastern Wind Symphony concerts at notable venues, including the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, NJ and the War Memorial in Trenton, NJ.
Meredith graduated cum laude from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. Shortly after, she began working as a music educator in the Newton Public School District, primarily teaching at Halsted Middle School. Mrs. Hamilton regularly taught a symphonic band of over 90 middle school students and proficiently instructed all of the instrumental lesson groups. Select students were taught conducting and / or music composition through utilizing music software “Finale.” These students were given an opportunity to conduct a ‘piece’ or perform their own composition on the night of a school concert. During her tenure at Halsted, Mrs. Hamilton also pioneered a jazz band and arranged several woodwind, brass and percussion ensembles.
In 2003, Meredith began attending Abundant Life Worship Center of Whippany, where she met her soon to be husband, David; they were married by Pastor Joseph V. Arminio in 2005. Meredith and David are actively involved in both the music and children’s ministries at ALWC. As part of the staff at Abundant Life Christian School, she teaches general music to grades K-8 and provides private and group music lessons on a variety of instruments, including: piano, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, guitar, drums, voice and more. Meredith is passionate about sharing her love for the Lord and music with her many students. Furthermore, she tremendously enjoys teaching the next generation to live for God and worship in Spirit and in Truth. Meredith actively supports the vision of Abundant Life Bible Institute and is honored to serve the Lord under Pastor Joe, Dr. Fucci, Elder Donnie and the entire pastoral staff.
